The Scream That Should Be Heard ‘Round the World’

Anna C. Dragsbaek worked in a rural hospital as a Peace Corps volunteer in Sierra Leone, West Africa, where she watched children suffer from vaccine-preventable diseases, such as tetanus, measles and polio. Later, Anna lived in China where she again witnessed people suffering from vaccine-preventable diseases, including severe influenza.

Anna holds an undergraduate degree in Social Work from Marquette University and earned her law degree, specializing in Public Health Law at the University of Houston. As Manager of the Immunization Project at Texas Children’s Hospital, Anna focused on implementing projects to boost immunization rates and analyzing immunization law and policies.

She has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including Pediatrics, and has received numerous awards, including the Healthcare Hero award from the Houston Business Journal.

Active in the local and international health communitoes, Anna has held board positions on the American Immunization Registry Association, The Confederation of Meningitis Organization, and the Texas Lyceum. She volunteers as a Boy Scout Merit Badge Counselor and specializes in the Citizenship Merit Badges. Her two sons are both fully immunized.
