My name is Madeline Morales and I’m a senior at the University of Texas at San Antonio majoring in Environmental Science. I am passionate about climate action and environmental justice. In my career I would like to work in the nonprofit sector on sustainability and environmental justice issues as a Director of Sustainability. Throughout my life, I hope to have the opportunity to redefine climate response and ensure equitable global development. Events like Earth2Hot2Handle: A Climate Action Event are how I start making change now.
Climate change can often be a disempowering issue and for youth even more so. I believe anyone at any age can make an impact and that we should especially be looking to the ones climate change will impact the most. Engaging youth is vital in solving the climate crisis. The TEDxYouth@SanAntonio program provided me and so many others with a platform to voice our opinions and support to take action. I am grateful to serve as the chair for Sponsors and Partnerships under the guidance of our wonderful mentors. Working alongside other passionate youth is empowering and together I know we can make a huge difference through this event.
This event represents the concern of San Antonio youth about our future and our determination to do something about it. Our event will showcase the many different ways to get involved and that any little bit helps. I hope our attendees will learn from our speakers, interact with our partners, and meet other passionate people and come away with new connections.
So I welcome you to attend Earth2Hot2Handle where we will bring together like-minded changemakers to change the future!
Get Involved in TEDxYouth@SanAntonio
The TEDxYouth@SanAntonio program operates under license from TED.com — the people who put out TED talks and TED conferences. In the Youth program, people middle-school age and up are invited to organize the event — the venue, catering, speakers and programming, publicity and communications, sponsorships and fundraising. The TEDxSanAntonio organizers are actively involved as mentors. There are four ways you can become part of the team:
- Attend. Register for the event — we’ve worked hard to make it FREE to attend.
- Speak. If you’ve got an idea worth spreading for solving the climate crisis, or making progress on the issue — please apply. We are accepting speaking and performance proposals through January 2023.
- Sponsor. We welcome organizations who support students, education, climate action initiatives, and energy industry transformation to help us put on this and other events. We’re standing up an interactive Idea Lab where organizations can interact directly with participants.
- Volunteer. Want to learn how to produce a community event? This is a great opportunity to learn how it’s done, and meet some fascinating people.
