Words can’t express my gratitude to TEDxSanAntonio for the opportunity to share the stage with so many outstanding speakers. Imagine my excitement to hear that I had been selected to speak during the TEDxSanAntonio, Tricentennial Celebration, Fall 2018 event. I was out of state performing military duty when I received the phone call from Ms. Kelly Strait. I couldn’t believe it…After hearing of my selection to speak at the fall event, I immediately felt a mix of pride, humbleness and fear. I was assigned to my curator, Kelly Strait, to help me navigate through all the practices and requirements. Kelly is an amazing young woman with knowledge beyond her years. I feel blessed that I had the opportunity to collaborate with Kelly and everyone involved in the preparation of our TED Talk.
TEDxSanAntonio is comprised of a top notch group of volunteers who go above and beyond to ensure you have the best possible experience. Everyone involved in our preparation and during the actual TED Talk showed professionalism, comradery and a deep sense community service. This experience was amazing! TEDxSanAntonio provided me with an amazing platform to stimulate the dialog about surviving active shooter events with our community. I’m humbled by the opportunity and hope my TED Talk allows for an honest and frank conversation about changing our mindset from victims to survivors. I will continue doing my best to spread the message to our community and thanks TEDxSanAntonio for believing in me.
