Purpose
In this first Salon event for TEDxSanAntonio, we will explore how we, as humans, create a meaningful life. Over the last 10 years, a variety of fields of study have converged to help chip away at the BIG questions in life. From multiple perspectives, including: psychology, neuroscience, religion, philosophy, and even theoretical physics, a picture is beginning to emerge that WE are the creators of our own meaning.
Format
TEDxSanAntonio Salons are smaller group gatherings where we watch and discuss short TED or TEDx talks and the ideas they spark.
Harking back to the French philosophical movement in the 17th century, we will follow the traditional format of the salon, a casual gathering to refine the taste, and increase the knowledge of the participants through conversation. Depending on the size, we will likely split into groups small enough to support a productive conversation, watch 2 appropriate TED talks, and then reconvene as a larger social group.
Come and explore Creating Meaning and how this impacts a meaningful life. Everyone is a participant and no professional expertise is required. We’re all 100% expert at our own experiences of creating meaning.
There is no charge to attend this Salon, though we welcome your donations to support this nonprofit event. Space is limited, so you must register to reserve your spot.
Come discuss Ideas Worth Spreading and develop the community of TED and TEDx supporters here in San Antonio.
