OCTOBER 15, 2011 – You laughed. You cried. Your brain hurt. Ready to go again?
Last year in October, we held the city’s first all-day TEDx event on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 at the Trinity University Jane and Arthur Stieren Theater. Sixteen local and national thought leaders gave the speech of their lives around the theme “Planting new ideas.”
We’re at it again! Trinity University has agreed to host the second TEDxSanAntonio. You’re invited to the second annual kickoff happy hour mixer at aloft San Antonio (410 and Blanco) on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 from 6-8 pm. Limited space, but sign up and let us hear from you. Cash bar, snacks provided. Some 2010 speakers will be on hand. We’ll be asking you for:
- Theme and topic ideas. Think broad, inclusive, exciting, inspiring for the theme, and for topics we want interesting trends and happenings – especially those with specific relevance to San Antonio. Bring ideas!
- Speaker nominations. Do you know a world-class thinker working on the Next Big Thing? Or is that you? Help us get these people on the big stage.
- Sponsor nominations. We had world-class sponsors last year, and most are on board to go again. We’re in particular need of skilled nonprofit fundraising volunteers with contacts and experience.
- Committee assignments. It takes a village to put on a TEDx, and last year you stepped up! Speaker Outreach, Facilities and Event Management, Audience Curation and Registration, Sponsorships, Communications, Technology, Volunteer Coordination. While working on an event committee doesn’t GUARANTEE you a seat at the event, the curation committee counts your hours as commitment. Were you on a committee or volunteered at the event last year? We want you back! Consider helping out in a NEW area.
