As the current TEDxSA licensee, I’m privileged, and often humbled, to interact directly with other licensees worldwide.
As we’re well into the heavy lifting season for Ideas In Action (and Rebecca Helterbrand and the Salon team for tomorrow’s “Children’s Mental Health: Where are the Casseroles” event) – it lifted my spirits to see the following message from our fellow TEDx licensee in Iraq.
Creating TEDx events and videos that shape our world matters in Iraq, and it matters here. Thanks to each of our hardworking TEDxSanAntonio volunteers, and the TEDx volunteers around the world, for all you have done, and are doing.
Here’s a note that TEDxBaghdad founder Yahay AlAbdeli posted to the licensee group on Wednesday.
Dear Friends
Despite the difficult and unstable situation my lovely country Iraq goes through now, we decided to host our 4th edition of TEDxBaghdad on Sep. 27, 2014.
I got many recommendations from my team to postpone the event and even cancel it.
But my strong believe in the power of spreading ideas and the impact it can bring to my Iraqi community and how TEDxBaghdad have been for almost 4 years the source of motivation encouraged me to organize TEDxBaghdad 2014 under the theme “Never Give Up”…..
We want to show the world that Iraq will never give up and we still have many brilliant ideas that can rebuild and develop our Iraq society.
Thanks to all friends for your help
Thank you TED & TEDx team for your supportYahay AlAbdeli
